Firstly, make sure you have the latest version of Google Chrome internet browser installed, as well as the Intelligent Remote Invigilation System (IRIS) extension.
Download the latest version of Google Chrome internet browser. Your browser must be used for all assessments using Intelligent Remote Invigilation System (IRIS). (LINK: https://www.google.com/chrome/)
Please take care not to uninstall the IRIS Extension if you already have it as this could clear previously recorded videos that may not have been uploaded to our servers yet.
Check your device permissions
IRIS will need access to computer devices such as your webcam and microphone. Make sure that these devices are accessible by your browser.
For Windows users:
Go to Start Button -> Windows Settings -> Privacy
Click Camera under App Permissions on the sidebar
Enable both “Allow apps to access your camera” and “Allow desktop apps to access your camera”
Click Microphone under App Permissions on the sidebar
Enable both “Allow apps to access your MICROPHONE” and “Allow desktop apps to access your camera”
Security updates within browsers may block camera or microphone permissions by default. Make sure that the IRIS Extension has permission to access your webcam and microphone.
Check your browser permissions (IRIS Already Installed)
Check the ‘Camera’ and ‘Microphone’ permissions and make sure that they are set to ‘Allow’ as shown below
For Edge Users:
Please note that If you have never accessed the extension before and set permissions for it, it will use the site permissions you’ve set in Microsoft Edge (See New IRIS Installation Instructions for Edge below)
Check the ‘Camera’ and ‘Microphone’ permissions and make sure that they are set to ‘Sites can ask to use your camera’ & ‘Sites can ask to use your microphone’ as shown below
